Who You'd Actually Be Working With

Ensemble Bookkeeping is a virtual bookkeeping firm in Rome, Georgia, started in 2018 by Chip Mitchell. Chip has owned and run businesses since 2007, which is the short version of why this firm exists — he spent years doing his own books badly enough to learn what a good bookkeeper is actually worth.

Most People Call Me Chip

I've owned businesses since 2007 — more than fifteen years of running the kind of company we now keep books for. That means I've made payroll on a Friday I wasn't sure about, and I've opened a set of books in April I should have looked at in October.

So when somebody tells me they're eight months behind and embarrassed about it, I'm not being polite when I say it's fine. I know exactly how it happens. It happens one week at a time while you're doing the work that actually pays.

I started Ensemble in 2018 because I kept meeting owners in the same spot — good at the thing they do, underwater on the part nobody taught them, and paying for it twice. Once in the time it took, and again in the decisions they made without real numbers.

Most people call me Chip. My clients call me reliable, which is the only credential in this paragraph I'd fight for.

Why It's Called Ensemble

An ensemble is a group where nobody carries the whole thing alone and the result is better than any one part of it. That is the entire idea, and it applies in both directions.

It's why there's more than one person here, and it's why we don't pretend to be your CPA, your payroll company, or your financial advisor. We do one thing properly and we tell you plainly where our part ends.

You can't do it all yourself. Neither can we. That's the point of an ensemble.

How We Work

A person reads your books. Nothing is categorized automatically without someone behind it. Every transaction is either clicked by a human or caught by a rule a human wrote.

We don't bill by the hour. One flat monthly price. Asking a question doesn't start a meter, because the whole point of having a bookkeeper is that you can call them.

We tell you where our part ends. We don't prepare taxes, we don't run your payroll, and when a question belongs to your CPA we say so instead of guessing in front of you.

Where We Are

We're in Rome, Georgia, and we work with businesses across six counties in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama — plus a good number well outside it, because the practice is virtual.

The free consultation is thirty minutes on Zoom. There's nothing to drive to, and that's deliberate rather than a limitation.
